A project that is the first of its kind!

Below is the speech by the Honorable Minister for Agriculture Hon Moses Vilakati
at the launching of the St Phillip's Sugar Cane Project
(08 October 2016)

"It is my pleasure and distinguished privilege to address you today, on this very important occasion of the launch of the St Phillip's Illovo Sugar Cane Project this morning.

Privileged because this project is the first of its kind that the diocese of Manzini have partnered with Illovo, a private entity int he development of small holder sugar cane project of this area. While these two have individually played a pivotal role in the development of the community in his regard, this arrangement, however, brings a fresh dimension to the development partnerships in this sector, and this is highly encouraged if the country is to realize its dream of improving the lives and livelihoods of its rural people.

Master of ceremonies,
I also want to express my appreciation to the Catholic Church for its commitment in improving the spiritual, health and social needs of the community here at St Phillip's. I have been reliably informed that this has been your Mission ever since you arrived in this area in 1926. This is indeed a long time of service to this community. You have indeed responded to your call to serve mankind"
