It was Pope Pius XII in 1955 who instituted the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker on May 1 remembering that Joseph is presented in the Gospels as a carpenter who earned an honest living to provide for his family. In fact, in Matthew 13:55 Jesus is called “the son of the carpenter”
The month of May could be for us a time to reflect on the situation of so many brothers and sisters who are now unemployed due to the impact of COVID19.
