Last 21 February the Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) gathered the main candidates of the political parties for a moment of prayer in preparation for this Saturday's elections. At the end they were invited to sign, once again, the pledge sign before the last national elections celebrated in 2012.
I thank the CCL for giving me a copy of the pledge.
"We, the political parties of Lesotho:
Mindful of the legacy of nationhood and the values of statesmanship bequeathed us by Moshoeshowe I and the founders of this nation;
Desirous of assuring all Basotho of our dedication to democracy, the rule of law, and the conduct of peaceful elections;
Hereby pledge:
To honor the Constitution and laws of Lesotho;
To honor the institutions of governance of Lesotho;
To observe the Electoral Code of Conduct;
To accept the outcomes of the 28 February 2015 election when certified free, fair and credible by independent observers.
Signed this 21st February 2015
