'HeForShe' (speeches)

The 'HeForShe' campaign gathers UN Women, the South African Council of Churches, the Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference and the Moral Regeneration Movement.

As reported by the SABC (link HERE): "The representative of UN Women, Dr Auxilia Ponga, says abuse against women does not only lead to wasting money on various levels but also leaves scars, not only on those being abused, but down a long line which becomes a vicious circle."

Miss Yena with Sr Makoro CPS
(SACBC Secretary General)
We were grateful by the presence and support of Yena Khuboni (Miss Commonwealth SA 2015 Top 16 Finalist). At the beginning of her speech she said: "The HeForShe campaign is an indication for me that men have committed to be the best human beings that God has created them to be and I am very proud to be part of this initiative"

Fr Simangaliso Mkhatswa, Chairperson of the Moral Regeneration Movement, started by saying: "this day 22 of August will forever be remembered as a day when Mbombela struck a blow for gender equality in South Africa... In our media day in and day out we read stories about the rape, the murder of old "gogos", of women, girls and even toddlers...". Then added: "what the statistics are disclosing is that we are not winning the war. We might be winning battles here and there but not winning the war"
