Parish Choir Competition (Our Lady of Assumption, Cathedral)

Twenty years' ago when I arrived in South Africa, I remember passing in Blaauwbosch Parish (KZN) and being asked together with Fr Alexius Lipingu IMC to be a judge at a choir competition. "The judges did not come and we need someone to do it. They will accept whatever you say." We both went and it became clear that ... I was not the right person to do it! It is a very challenging service.

This time it was different. I was just asked to be present at the "Parish Choir Competition" of the communities of the Cathedral. "Good Shepherd Parish" (Siteki) had been invited to join them.

Visiting the outstations of the Cathedral during Lent, I happened to meet (every time!) the executive of the Parish Choir. They went around inviting the choirs to meet, practice and give the best of themselves to the animation of our celebrations.

The competition lasted more than three hours and we all enjoyed it. We were all impressed at the quality of the singing. We are really blessed by having them.

Enjoy the videos!
