Celebrating together (Malusi Omuhle Primary School)

The occasion was the visit of Mr Heribert Nasch and his daughter Ingrid. I met him for the first in 2010 when he visited "Malusi Omuhle" (Good Shepherd) Primary School at Hlabisa. He had just donated 15 computers to the school. We had been able to buy them and install them two days before he arrived. Since then, we have practically met every year.

Before coming the suggested organising a meal for those finishing Grade 7 (who will then be leaving the Primary School and continue at a High School). Both Grade 6 and 7 attended the celebration together with the principal, the vice principal and their teachers.

By the way... it was a Saturday! As someone pointed out, not many times you find the teachers available on a Saturday.

We started in Church (the Cathedral of the Vicariate of Ingwavuma) praying together and thanking God for the opportunity of attending school all these years. The lit their candles from the Easter candle to remember that God will always be there for them and with them but also to remember Jesus words "you are the light of the world". Wherever they will be in the future, they should be light to others.

After the short prayer, songs, dances and a story prepared by the children. Then, gifts for Mr Nasch, Mrs Nasch (who could not come this time) and Ingrid. There was also a gift for the bishop too!

We had a great time but no one could wait for the main part... the meal! While the children enjoyed their meal, some of us took some time to talk about future projects for the school. The journey continues...
